there was an issue of time magazine years ago (pre-9/11) which has albert einstein on the cover naming him the person of the century. it is time magazine's millenium issue. inside it, there is an article called time's atlas of the millenium. it outlines the centers (or capitals) of the world starting from 1000ad to 1900ad. the last three are versailles (1700s), london (1900s) and new york (now).
